Color Picker
A Color Picker lets customers pick any color they want, using a color wheel or a hex code - not just from a predefined list.
Plan: Color picker is available on the Advanced plan and above. On the Free plan you can still try it on one live product with a Premium option set. See Plans and feature availability.
When to use a Color Picker
- Custom printed products (T-shirts, mugs).
- Personalized embroidery or engraving.
- Home decor with paint color options.
How to add a Color Picker option
Step 1: Add the option
Open 1. Add options, click Add option, tick Color picker under Others on the New options tab, then click Add options.
Step 2: Name it
Enter the Label on product (e.g., "Pick Your Color"). Use Label on cart if the cart and order should show a different name.
Tick any options below based on your needs:
- Required field if customers must select before adding to cart
- Hide option label to hide the label above the color field
Step 3: Save and test
Click Save, then open the product page on your store to check that the Color Picker works correctly.
Option settings
Set only what you need - all of the settings below are optional.
- Add-on - charge extra for this option (Extra fee, Advanced plan and above) or link it to a Shopify variant (Upsell product, Platinum and above). See Manage add-on (additional fee for option).

Placeholder
A short hint shown in the color field before the customer chooses a color.
Help text
Add a short note explaining what to choose, shown as a Tooltip, Below the option title, Beside the option title, or Below the option.

Show or hide with Visibility (conditional logic)
Show or hide the Color Picker based on another option. Available on the Advanced plan and above. Note that a Color picker can be shown or hidden by other options, but it cannot be used to trigger another option's visibility. See How to set up Conditional logics?.
Option width
In the Display tab, set Option width (25%, 33%, 50%, 67%, 75% or 100%) to control how much horizontal space the Color Picker takes.
