# Set a Default Value for an Option Field

# Set a Default Value for an Option Field

This feature lets you set a default value for an option, so it's automatically selected or filled in when customers view your product page.

Default values are available on the **Advanced** plan and above.

### **Where it is available:**

* **Options with a list of values** - Dropdown menu, Dropdown with thumbnail, Checkbox, Radio button, Switch, Button and Swatch: use the **Default** column of the **Option values** table (see the steps below).
* **Text options** - Text box, Text area, Number field and Email: type the value in **Default value** (next to **Placeholder text**) in the option's **Content** tab.
* **Font picker** - choose the font in **Default value**.

### **Steps:**

1. In the **Option set**, click on the element you want to adjust.
2. Under the **Option values** section, locate the specific value you want to set as default
3. Toggle on the switch in the **Default** column next to that option value
4. Click **Save** to finish.

**Result:** The default option will appear selected on your storefront page.
